Charles M. Servies died at his home 8 miles south of Crawfordsville near Lapland at 3 o’clock Friday morning. He had been ill about two years with pulmonary tuberculosis and his death had been expected for the past several days. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Church in New Market Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. Rev. Mr. Airhart will officiate and burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery. Charles M. Servies was born in Scott Township, Montgomery County Nov 3, 1859 and was 51 years 11 months and 10 days old at the time of death. He was the son of William T. and Nancy (Jones) Servies and was one of a large family of children. Mr. Servies followed the business of farming all his life, but of late years had lived a retired life. He owned a fine farm in Scott Township and was a successful agriculturist. Besides the widow, Mrs. Emma F. Servies, decedent is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nancy Servies and the following brothers and sisters: John A. Servies, Portland, Ore; Henry D. Servies, recorder of Montgomery County; Harney Servies, new Market; Mary A. Martin, Scott township; America White, New Market and Maggie Seaman, Scott Township. Mr. Servies was the possessor of a wide circle of friends who will grieve at his passing. Mr. and Mrs. HD Servies have been at the bedside of Mr. Servies’ brother for the past few days and were there when death occurred.  - kbz
